Population

In 2022, Delhi once again topped the list as the most unsafe city for women, with an average of three rapes per day. It accounted for 14,158 out of 48,755 reported crimes against women in 19 major cities across the country, making up 29.04% of the total. Additionally, Delhi ranked first in terms of crimes against senior citizens, with a 12.60% increase from 1,166 offences in 2021 to 1,313 in 2022.

In 2024, the total strength of the Delhi Police was 83,762, making it one of the largest police forces. Roughly 25% of the Delhi Police’s total strength is dedicated to VIP protection. The Delhi police force has approximately 400 officers for every 100,000 people.
